Founded in 1844, Neillsville was known for its logging industry. Neillsville officially became the city of Neillsville in 1882 and was the second city in Wisconsin to have electricity.
Now, the city of Neillsville offers a little something for everyone while continuing to maintain numerous homes built in the 1800’s. Whether you’re a history buff, enjoying the outdoors or shopping, Neillsville offers many opportunities. Downtown, there are twenty properties listed on the National Historic Registry. Visitors will also enjoy the Highground Memorial located just off Hwy 10.
Maybe you’re looking for an adventure on one of the many ski and bike trails located at Levis Mound. Neillsville and the surrounding area boast numerous ATV and snowmobile trails for the thrill seekers. These ATV trails are open for most of the year, only closing for about a month at a time for maintenance.
If you’re looking for something slower paced, you can enjoy a tour of Tufts Mansion, Clark County Jail Museum, WCCN Worlds Fair Pavilion and the Old Reed School. All of these attractions give visitors the opportunity to enjoy the area while potentially learning something new.
